Meet Peyton Decker
Cedar Ridge Class of 2026, Efland-Cheeks Global Elementary School Class of 2019
Peyton Decker is a senior at Cedar Ridge High School in the class of 2026. She is a member of the soccer team. On Wednesday May 6, she returned to Efland-Cheeks Global Elementary School where she met with some of her previous teachers. After high school, she plans to attend NC Wesleyan University to continue her academic and athletic career where she will major in Biology.

We asked Peyton some questions about her time at Efland-Cheeks Global and here are her responses:
Was there a teacher or staff member who really inspired you or believed in you?
- Mr. Dieso inspired me to learn and have the most math knowledge possible. Granted, I only wanted to know more than everyone else so that I would win the candy prizes.
What's one tradition from elementary school you would like to bring back?
- I really liked the grade pacer test competition, where the highest girl and guy of each grade would get put up on the board with the score they got in PE, and the competition of running and beating everyone made me so very happy.
Which field trip or special event still sticks in your mind?
- I can't remember where we went, but I loved the field trip when we did the overnight cabin stay and did the candle making with the hundreds of bees flying all around us. It was good to get over my fear of bees.
Was there a subject you loved back then that shaped what you enjoy now?
- I really liked math at the time, and I think I carried that love through middle and high school, which is why I've taken so many math classes both at my high school and at Alamance Community College.
If you could give your younger self one piece of advice for elementary school, what would it be?
- I would tell my younger self to focus more on the important things, like friends and school, and not stress about the social aspects, such as drama.
We are so proud of you Peyton and can’t wait to see what amazing things you accomplish! #EaglesSOAR
