Meet Mia Marty:
Cedar Ridge High School Class of 2026, Efland-Cheeks Global Elementary School Class of 2019
Mia Marty is a senior at Cedar Ridge High School where she is a captain and star setter of the volleyball team. She currently has a 3.72 GPA and intends to study Sports Psychology next fall. Mia returned to Efland-Cheeks Global on Tuesday, September 9 where she met with her former teachers and volunteered to read a story to some kindergarten, first, and second grade students. Mia also met with an aspiring young volleyball player in the third grade and invited her to come to a match at Cedar Ridge where she will meet the team.
We asked Mia some questions about her time at Efland-Cheeks Global and here are her responses:
Was there a teacher or staff member who really inspired you or believed in you?
- Ms. Hines and Mr. Dieso. They both were always a light in my day and no matter how stressed they were they would always bring their best to school every day af that inspired me to always be kind to everyone and always keep a smile on your face.
Which field trip or special event still sticks in your mind?
- Outer Banks has always been my favorite field trip. When I went back to OBX this summer, I saw the dunes and all the memories of doing cartwheels down the hill with my friends came rushing back, and I will always cherish moments like that.
Was there a subject you loved back then that shaped what you enjoy now?
- I loved math back then, and I still love it to this day. Even though it got way harder, I still love having 1 answer to get to.
If you could give your younger self one piece of advice for elementary school, what would it be?
- Don't take time for granted, I never thought I would be a senior in high school, but here I am, time really does fly. So take everything in while you can. Be grateful for where your feet are now.
