Meet Mariah Poole:

Orange High School Class of 2026, Efland-Cheeks Global Elementary School Class of 2019

Mariah Poole is a senior at Orange High School where she is a star outside hitter of the volleyball team. She currently is playing basketball and intends to study Physical Therapy in college. Mariah returned to Efland-Cheeks Global on Monday, November 17 where she met with her former teachers and participated in a math lesson with 4th grade students. Mariah also met with with siblings of some of her current classmates at Orange High School and invited them to come see her play basketball this winter.

We asked Mariah some questions about her time at Efland-Cheeks Global and here are her responses:

Was there a teacher or staff member who really inspired you or believed in you?

  • A teacher that inspired me was Mr. Dieso and Mrs. Hines because they were my fourth grade teachers, and they were the best!

Which field trip or special event still sticks in your mind?

  • One field trip I loved was the outer banks. It was so much fun, I remember really enjoying running down the sand dunes with my friends.

Was there a subject you loved back then that shaped what you enjoy now?

  • One subject I loved back then was English. I still love English, and I challenge myself to take and complete honors English classes in high school.

If you could give your younger self one piece of advice for elementary school, what would it be?

  • I would tell my elementary self to enjoy the moments because they don't last forever. Time flies by so don't take it for granted, getting older isn't all that it seems.
